Nelson Cricket Club is pleased to announce that work will commence on 21st September on a complete overhaul of the Cricket square at the club. Following consultation with The Institute of Groundsmanship and Derek Crane Sportsturf the whole top surface will be removed and re-laid to provide 15 new wickets at Seedhill. The project will be carried out in 2 phases during Autumn 2015 and Autumn 2016.
The club continues to invest heavily in our junior section and feel that the provision of quality playing surfaces will encourage their development whilst also encouraging new talent to the club over the next season or two.
Club Chairman (and Groundsman) David Heap explained; “despite regular end of season renovations the wickets at Nelson continue to play slow and low. We want to provide the best possible playing surface at Seedhill and have therefore committed to this programme which will see 7 new wickets available for the 2016 campaign with a further 8 in place the following season.
Nelson Cricket Club would like to thank Tony from The I.O.G and Derek Crane for their support and advice.
